Fermenta

Fermenta is an NGO created in 2013 by a multidisciplinary team, with the aim of promoting social and cultural valorisation of local communities through responsible design. Fermenta designs and implements integrated projects of cultural, social and human development, using co-creation, design thinking and an holistic approach to people and the territory. Of regional, national and international reach, directed to the community and institutions, both private or public.
One of its main initiatives is the creative Hub60+ , A Avó Veio Trabalhar (Grandmother Came to Work). A project of sharing, learning and empowerment that, through creativity and handmade traditional crafts, creates a central stage for elders to discover their uniqueness and talents. Elderly people find again their space as role-models for the younger generations in the community, not as agents from the past but as active agents for the future of society. It started in 2014 and has won several national and international awards and has the participation of more than 100 elderly
